Zelma Clingan, age 82, passed away February 16, 2013 in the early morning peacefully at Central Wyoming Hospice. Zelma was born in Page, Knox County, Nebraska on August 30, 1930 to John E. Clyde and Calista F. (Lesher) Clyde. Zelma was the 3rd of 4 children. After Zelmas mother passed away, her father moved the family from Nebraska to Upton and surrounding areas. At age 15, Zelma contracted polio and was hospitalized in Casper for treatment. After graduating from Newcastle High School Zelma continued her schooling at the University of Wyoming to be a teacher. While at college, Zelma met Charles Clingan and they were married August 6, 1950 in Sundance. To this union, 4 children were born. Howard, David, Darleen, and Tena. After Charles passed away in January 1967, Zelma moved from Clayspur to Upton for the children to finish their education. After Tena graduated from high school, Zelma moved to California living with her sister until she was able to be employed and then living in her own house. She continued to live on her own until after her sister and brother in law passed away. She came back to Wyoming after that. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, sister & brother in law. She is survived by her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all.
