William Barnard

William (Bill) Barnard, 93, passed away on March 29, 2019 at Life Care Center in Casper, Wyoming. Bill was born on March 6, 1926 in Casper, Wyoming, to Pauline Nelson Barnard and William Bell Barnard. Bill graduated from Natrona County High School in 1944. After serving in the United States Navy during World War 11, he received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin. Bill returned to Casper and with his father began his career in the real estate and land development business in 1950. His brother Robert Barnard joined him in business in 1957. Bill and his brother partnered in business for 62 years. Bill owned and operated Barnard Realty for 57 years. In 1969 Bill married Ardell Hansen until she passed away in 1991. On January 15, 1994 he married Joyce Buckingham. Bill was active in community organizations: He was a founding director of Hilltop National Bank, serving in that capacity for 50 years; president of the National Association of Realtors for Wyoming in 1962-63; Realtor of the Year in 1962. He also served on the Casper Board of Realtors as president, and in 1963-64 was president of the Casper Chamber of Commerce. Bill loved to travel. He and Joyce toured many different countries together. Bill, an avid fly fisherman, also loved being outdoors and maintaining and entertaining guests on his mountain property; Children and animals gravitated to Bill as he always had time to enjoy being with them. Bill was always just Bill; kind, honest and good-natured. Bill is survived by wife Joyce, brother Robert Barnard (Alice); step daughter Christine Hansen; step sons, Robert Hansen (Cary), Dale Buckingham (Gwen); Reo Buckingham (Robynne); Nephews, Paul Barnard (Sherry); Andy Barnard (Cindy); widow of Stan Barnard (Sue); and by grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Stan Barnard, his first wife Ardell Hansen Barnard. Memorial donations may be made to Wyoming Chapter Alzheimer's Association, Central Wyoming Hospice or Salvation Army. Services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Highland Park Community Church with reception to follow.
