Walton (Walt) Ray Parker, 84, of Casper, Wyoming went to be with our Lord in heaven on Easter Monday March 28, 2016. He was born in Springville, Tennessee on April 17, 1931 to parents John Quincy and Bessie Irene Parker. He was one of 12 siblings. He graduated from Springville High School, and joined the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served for 18 years. He served during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Master Sargent, and ended his service at F. E. Warren AFB working in the Atlas and Minuteman I missiles. After military retirement he went on to earn a bachelor degree in vocational education from the University of Northern Colorado. He married Shirley A. Zuech on May 9, 1964 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The Parker family moved to Riverton, Wyoming where Walt taught auto mechanics at the James H. Moore Career Center at Riverton High School. He later taught diesel mechanics at Central Wyoming College, and finished his career at the Wyoming State Honor Farm. He was a proud member of the Weldon D. Moss chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship. He loved working on his farmland and built the family home near Riverton where he enjoyed raising livestock, gardening, tinkering with motor vehicles and computers. He had a talent for bowling and in his younger years spent many enjoyable hours sending the ball down the lane. He was a happy, patient, humble, and caring person that dearly loved his family, and could fix anything with bailing wire and duct tape. The family took many memorable road trips to visit family in Tennessee. In later years those trips became visits to see his grandchildren, and true to his generous nature took the whole family on vacations to Italy and Hawaii. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Casper, daughter, Mari Ann (John) Schroer of Casper, and daughter, Beth (Scott) Salvas of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Four grandchildren: Joe, Matt and Mary Beth Schroer of Casper, and Sienna Salvas of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his infant son, James (Jimmy) Ray Parker. A viewing will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home at 6:30 pm Friday, April 1st with Rosary to follow at 7:30 pm. The funeral will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 10:30 am Saturday April 2, 2016. Interment will take place on Monday April 4th, at 10 am at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery.
