Walter Wayne Whetham, 86, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Wyoming Medical Center. Per his request, the family is planning a private service when all of his children can attend next summer. Wayne was born December 8, 1930 in Casper, Wyoming to Walter W. Whetham and Amy R. (Stuart) Whetham. He graduated from Natrona County High School in 1949. He married Brenda Cheeswright in Suffolk, England in 1952 and they were blessed with three children. Following the dissolution of this marriage, Wayne married Georgia L. Solomon on August 25, 1963. Together they had four children and they made their home in Casper. Wayne served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Suffolk, England. He worked 38 years at the Amoco Oil Refinery as a shipping clerk. He retired in 1992. Wayne was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and enjoyed birdwatching, especially hummingbirds. He loved music and his favorite genre was Dixieland Jazz. Wayne's greatest joy was his children: Lindsey Ruth Whetham Ahmet (husband Gordon Hayward), and Wendy Jean Stuart, both of London, England, James Thomas (wife Jo) Whetham of Ipswich, England, Kassie Ann Whetham of Huntington Beach, CA, Vivian "Chris" Whetham of Casper, Walter Wiley Whetham of Los Alamos, NM and Sarah Lynn Whetham of Aurora, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jo Whetham Ahmet and Owen Hayward of England, Timothy Whetham of Casper, Aspen Roberts of Denver, CO, Austin and Adison Cogburn of Aurora, CO and by three nieces and a nephew, who all reside in Wyoming. He was preceded into death by his wife Georgia, his brother Virgil Whetham, sister-in-law Doris and his parents. Wayne would be absolutely appalled if flowers were sent in remembrance of him, but donations, if desired, to Meals on Wheels or any other charity of your choice, would be appreciated. Bustard's Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
