Graveside services for Walter Wayne Balben will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, February 22, 2016 at Highland Cemetery in Casper, WY. Wayne, as family and friends called him, was born August 1, 1953 in Casper, WY to Warren and Shirley Balben. He had five sisters; Gail, Diane, Annie, Janet and Dorothy and five brothers: Alan, Brent, Jim, Harold and Billy. Wayne attended Kelly Walsh High School and welding school. He took pride in his welding skills and over the years was employed by Texas Tank, Fluor Daniels and Stewart & Stevenson until ill health forced early retirement in 2015. He married Connie McCowen in 1973 and they had a daughter, Andrea Lynn. This ended in a divorce and on June 14, 1980 he married Brenda Schofield and they raised his 6 year old daughter. In 1997 Andrea married J. R. Crook and they had three children, Ashley, Joseph and Colten (twins). Wayne and Brenda took on the role of proud grandparents and life was good. Wayne enjoyed his hobbies and crafts. He was an avid gunsmith, enjoyed the outdoors; camping, gold panning and building model ships and planes. He also enjoyed singing karaoke, reading and was deeply interested in history, especially, World War II events. He lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on February 17, 2016 leaving to mourn his wife, Brenda; his daughter Andrea and husband J. R Crook and three grandchildren, Ashley, Colten and Joseph the twins and a host of relatives and friends.
