Wallace N. Cockerham passed away on August 13, 2012 at the Central Wyoming Hospice Kloefcorn Home, in Casper. He was 69 years young. Wally was born in Trout, Louisiana on October 3, 1942. He spent his summers in Wyoming and moved there permanently in 1964. He met and married Shirley J. Race in 1968 and they spent 44 wonderful years together. He began his working life in the oil fields and eventually had a long career as a heavy duty mechanic at US Steel and Pacific Corp. until his retirement in 2002. Wally enjoyed the mountains of Wyoming and loved to hunt, fish, camp, and snowmobile. He enjoyed watching motor sports and spending time with his family, especially his "pupperdog" Zoe. He was loved by everyone who had the pleasure to meet him and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Claud and Jesse Cockerham, his nephew Brian Judd Cockerham, two special brothers-in-law Eddie Pugh, and Roy Race; his father-in-law Kenneth Race and mother-in-law Pearl Race, who were like his second set of parents. He leaves behind his wife Shirley, his children Sonya, Wally Jr. (Sheryl), Derek (Pam), and Tracey (Joe). Also his grandson William and granddaughters Danielle, and Ashley. His special sister-in-law Celest Pugh and her two boys and their families. His siblings, Jack (Linda), Tom (Sharon), and twins Phyllis (T.W.), and Phillip. His favorite Aunt, Minnie. "Adopted" daughter Kelly Townsend, and "adopted" grandchildren, Don Jones, Hailey Cardona, Leilani and Ryan Townsend. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. At his request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers the family request you make a donation to Central Wyoming Hospice, or the Diabetes Foundation.
