A celebration of the life of Violet Sword Truchot, 91, will take place at 2 p.m. today, March 10, 2015, at Bustard's Funeral Directors and Crematory in Casper. Mrs. Truchot's body wore out on March 1, 2015, after a short stay at Life Care Center of Casper. Violet was born October 19, 1923, in Casper, the daughter of William T. and Isabelle Sword. As a child, she attended Jefferson School, then graduated from Natrona County High School in 1941. In 1942, Violet enrolled in college in Greeley, Colo. before leaving to work for the Army Corps of Engineers in Douglas, Wyo. and Clinton, Iowa. In 1944, she returned to Casper to work for Standolin Oil and Gas as a secretary, spending the rest of her life as a resident of her hometown. In 1952, she left Stanolind to marry the love of her life, John F. Truchot, Jr., and start a long, successful career as a mother and homemaker. A friend to all she met, Mrs. Truchot was a life-long member of Casper's First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed knitting, tending her 125-plant rose garden, and cheering on her beloved Nuggets, Avalanche, Rockies, Wyoming Cowboys, and -- most of all -- Denver Broncos. She also was a devoted mother to her pets, owning scores of well-loved dogs and cats during her lifetime. She was proceeded in death by her husband in 1977; her parents; and her brother, John W. Sword. Survivors include daughter Jan Truchot (and husband Bernie Schnorenberg) of Laramie; daughter Mary Truchot (and husband Dirk Shupe) of Boring, Ore.; son Jeff Truchot, of Casper; granddaughter Megan Candelaria (and husband Reynold) of Laramie; granddaughter Lindsey Shupe of Boring, Ore.; twin grandchildren, Grant and Kelsey Shupe of Boring, Ore.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also had one great-grandson, Maxxon Maddox Candelaria, of Laramie, who was born March 5, 2015, in Laramie. Memorials can be made in her honor to the Casper Humane Society.
