On August 18, 2015 The Lord said "It's time" so Vic passed from this earthly life quietly and peacefully at home in Casper, WY with his wife Carol by his side. Vic was born into the Metis-Sioux culture in rural Trenton Township, ND on August 10, 1934, to Henry and Mary (Falcon) Renville. In life he was very proud of his Native American Heritage and enjoyed talking about it to anyone who would listen. Vic attended Trenton and Williston, ND schools followed by honorable service in the United States Air Force. He lived a long and interesting life traveling extensively for business and pleasure. Foreign travel was provided free of charge to a little country called Korea. Work history began at a very early are with local farmers and in following years laid claim to many vocations; farm, construction, bookkeeper, sheepherder, oil patch, janitor, security guard, under-cover operative, polygraph examiner, regional security manager in retail, security consultant, guitarist/vocalist in a country band and finally ending his career as a captain in county law enforcement. Employment transfers took him to many major cities he would temporarily call home. Each change brought new friends, cultures and new adventures. During his years in Law Enforcement and in retirement, he was active in civic affairs in his home state of North Dakota. He served as Township Chairman, School Board, Water Board, TISA Board of Directors, and Family Recovery Home Board of Directors. He taught the Counter-ACT program in county schools on the dangers of alcohol and drugs. He continues his volunteer and civic involvement on into retirement. He was appointed by the North Dakota Governor to the Governor's Committee on Aging and also served as co-chair for the Greying of North Dakota, a statewide coalition on behalf of senior citizens. He was instrumental in obtaining grants to build a new Senior Center in Trenton and to build a memorial for three fallen soldiers from his home community. During his years in North Dakota, he was a member of Saint John the Baptist Church in Trenton. While there, he served on the Parish Council, taught CCD, and was a chaperone for youth travel in and out of state. He also served on the Bishop's Council, taught CCD, and was a chaperone for youth travel in and out of state. He also served on the Bishop's Committee for Vocations. With his move to Casper, WY, he became a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. With his many visits to Wyoming, he fell in love with the state and its people and moved to Casper in 2004. In 2007 he was married to Carol Brack who became his very special partner, friend, and love of his life. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Joseph "Hank" and Lawrence; a beloved daughter, Novelle "Velvet" Renville Rockne; and first wife, Ruth Head Renville. He is survived by his very special partner, his wife, Carol; daughters, Jane (Alan) Lawrence, of Trenton, ND, Michelle Gausvik of Aurora, CO; stepdaughters, Marcia (Travis) Wilkens of New Salem, ND, and Sherri (Mark) Breece of Anthem, AZ; sons, David, Gerald, and Henry (Ann) all of Trenton, ND; and stepson Larry Richmond of Idyllwild, CA; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; one niece, Mitzie (Mike) Hotard of Casper, WY; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. In addition he leaves behind five very special former law enforcement colleagues, Harlon Torgerson, Larry Lambert, Dennis Hendericks, and Kelvin Zimmer, all of North Dakota and Nick O'Hara of Minnesota. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bustard's Funeral Home in Casper with a Rosary on Sunday, August 23 at 6:00PM at Bustard's and Memorial Mass at 10:00AM, on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Thomas George officiating.
