A Christian funeral service for Vera A. Bauer, 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 12th & Missouri, Casper, with Pastor Dan Holthus officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Bauer died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Wyoming Medical Center. She was born March 22, 1926, on the family farm near Freeman, SD, to Daniel and Theophile (Hellwig) Haupt. On Feb. 1, 1946, she married Delbert D. Bauer at Luverne, Minn. The family followed her husband's occupation, residing in South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, and finally settling in Wyoming in 1959. After the children were out of the home, Mrs. Bauer traveled to locations with her husband until retirement. Those years were opportunities for the grandchildren to enjoy their time with Grandma and Grandpa. Many have memories of having fun fishing with them. And Grandma's lemon meringue pie was a regular request at family dinners. "Mom," "Gram" had a steadfast faith, an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. She always enjoyed visits from her family, playing cards and most recently she was always up for a Farkle game. She also enjoyed her time with her friends at the Bingo establishments. Over the years she enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping, fishing, and always making sure her visitors were fed. Survivors include five children: Deanna (Gene) Long, Gary (Colleen) Bauer, David (Cheryl) Bauer, Leonard (Robin) Bauer of Casper and Randall (Karen) Bauer of Salt Lake City; grandchildren Vaughn (Kristie) Long, Natalie (Scott) Boehnke, Michael (Jamie) Bauer, Angella (Scott) Nicholes, Jacob (Kassi) Bauer, Travis Bauer, Bridget Bauer, Christopher Bauer, Cory Bauer, Chad Bauer, and Curtis Bauer, 17 great-grandchildren and brother Elmer (Doris) Haupt and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by husband, Delbert, after 62 years of marriage; parents, brother Herbert Haupt; sisters Ruth Presuhn, Alice Neumann, Hannah Ivey, Meta Blindert, and Mabel Haupt, and one great-granddaughter. The family would appreciate memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1240 S. Missouri, Casper, WY, 82609.
