Susan "Sam" Anne Miller (nee Milligan) passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at her home in Casper. She was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on May 5, 1955 to Thomas Leo and Wanda Lea (Rogers) Milligan. Sam lived in Green Bay for 8 years, spent 10 formative years being raised in Casper, was educated in California, and lived in San Jose, California for 40 years. She returned to Wyoming in 2012. Sam met Jimi Miller during high school, before Susan moved to San Jose with her parents. They were reunited in 2013 and were married August 22, 2015 in Casper. Sam had a B.A. in Child Development with a Multi Subject Teaching Credential. She was an Elementary Teacher at Zancher Elementary for 8 years, where she was nominated Teacher of the Year twice, a middle school teacher at Dutcher Middle School for 8 years, a Dance Instructor for Jensen's School of Dance from 1980 to 1988, and a Customer Service Manager at Mervy's Department Store from 1982 to 1986. Sam went to school to pursue Nursing before she became ill. She recently worked as a phlebotomist for Wyoming Health Fairs. Sam was a member of the Saint Maria Goretti Church in San Jose and Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Casper. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, crafting, and fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Wanda Milligan; grandparents, Hazel Rogers, Arthur and Mary Rogers, and Thomas and Olive (Green) Milligan; granddaughter, Aliyah Ayala, whom Susan was caretaker of until Aliyah's passing, and brother-in-law, Timothy East. Sam is survived by her beloved husband, James "Jimi" Monroe Miller; children, Angela Marie Rodriguez of Sacramento, CA, Michele Lynn Rodriguez of Fountain, CO, Shary Anne Milligan of Modesto, CA, Alyssa Elizabeth Milligan of Sacramento, CA, Lorraine Salo, and Brian Miller; grandchildren, Josh Valles, Sariya Caguyong, Brandon Caguyong, Nicholas Salazar, and Jayden and Emma Luna of California, Celina Valencia, Mariah Ayala, and Karina Ayala of Colorado, and Samantha Martin of Washington. She is also survived by brothers, Thomas J. (Linda) Milligan of San Andreas, CA, Michael L. Milligan, James P. Milligan, and Robert W. Milligan of Grand Junction, CO; sisters, Margaret E. Johnson of Arizona, Sandra L. (Roger) Tharp, Mary E. (Albert) Tharp of Cheyenne, WY, Patricia A. East of Capay, CA, and Karen L. (Amir) Ali of San Carlos, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind special friends, Linda Puettman, Sandra Maben, Ruth Hensley, Holly Phillips, and Gail Lara. The Rosary Vigil will be at Bustard's Funeral Home, 600 CY Avenue, Casper, WY at 7:00pm on Friday, June 1, 2018. The Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on June 2, 2018 at Saint Patrick's Church, 400 Country Club Road, Casper, WY. Sam will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Wyoming Health Fair (on the corner of 1st and Elm) 115 South Elm Street, Casper, WY. Her family asks that memorial donations in Sam's name be made to Joey's Fly Fishing Foundation, 109 South Main, Suite B, Sheridan, WY 82801.
