Stanley Pivik

November 27, 1926 — February 19, 2019

Stanley Ed Pivik, known by his large and loving family as "Uncle Stan," 92, passed away on February 15, 2019 in Casper, Wyoming. Stan was born November 27, 1926 in Hudson Wyoming, son of Joe H. Pivik and Mary Pivik. Stan was raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming and graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1944. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy, served his tour of duty from 1944 to 1946, and was honorably discharged. Stan was honored to serve his country as a Navy Seaman. When Stan returned to Rock Springs after the war he took a job with Mountain Fuel, which eventually became Questar Corporation. Stan's first and last job was with Questar, where he worked in construction for 42 years. Stan traveled to Ribnica and Logatec, Slovenia to connect with relatives and learn about his Slovenian heritage. He enjoyed attending and watching Wyoming Cowboy football and basketball games throughout his life, including a memorable trip to New Orleans to cheer on the Cowboys in the Sugar Bowl. He also traveled to New York when the Cowboys made the finals at the National Invitation Tournament. There were many annual trips with extended family to a number of destinations. Stan was proud of his Slovenian heritage and to be from the great state of Wyoming. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Arlene Pivik and brother, Joe Pivik. Stan will be deeply missed by his sister, Pauline "Polly" Taubert; nephews, Kurt Taubert; Louis Taubert (Kelly); Robert Taubert (Teresa); and nieces, Carlene Taubert (Mark Parker); Anita Taubert (Bob Turnbull); Frieda Sue Taubert (Mike Huber); Cindy Cheney (Tom); and Pam McGarvey (John Fantin); and many great and great-great special nieces and nephews. There was nothing so important to Uncle Stan than his family, and he showed it constantly with his kindness and generosity. A celebration of his life will be held in the Spring.
