Shannon Chernick

Shannon Lee Chernick, 83, passed away on April 15, 2018 in Casper, Wyoming. She was born on September 12, 1934 in Casper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Casper with Fr. Hugo L. Blotsky, O.S.B. officiating. A Parish Vigil with the Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, April 23 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. following the reception at O'Reilly Hall at the Church. Shannon graduated from Natrona County High School and became a checker at Hilltop Albertsons in Casper for many years from where she retired. In 1953 she married Leo (Chubby) Chernick in Casper, Wyoming. She served on the committee for Republicans from 1970 to 1974 and was a Girl Scout leader for 5 years. She loved Elvis Presley's music and movies. Shannon was raised on her parent's ranch helping raise sheep in Natrona County and Ten Sleep. Shannon rode her horse Slippers in the first Natrona County Casper Parade. Shannon is survived by her son, Michael Chernick and daughter, Lisa Miller both of Casper; granddaughter, Stephanie Holbrook ( Mike) of Antiock, California; grandson, Christian Miller (Kelley) of Bar Nunn, Wyoming; granddaughter, Devon Miller of Wyoming; great-granddaughters, Taylor Thorpe and Torey Holbrook of Antiock, California; great-granddaughter, Addy Miller of Bar Nunn; great-grandson, Damien Miller of Bar Nunn; and great-grandson, Mikey Holbrook of Antiock, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Chernick; parents Bud & Erma Barker; and brother, Lewis Barker. Memorial donations may be made in Shannon's name to the Casper Fire Department, Shepherd of the Valley in Casper or Central Wyoming Hospice. Thank you to everyone at Shepherd of the Valley, mainly the East station, for the kind care of our mother along with transitions hospice. .
