Sally Slates

February 5, 1931 — September 8, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Ann Slates, "Great Sally". Sally passed away September 8, 2015 in Casper, WY at the age of 84. Sally was born February 5, 1931, in Cherokee, Iowa to Laura Wayman and Benjamin Branstetter. On March 24, 1949 she married her adoring husband of 51 years, Clyde E. Slates at Open Bible Church in Edgerton, WY. Together they built a successful small business and a family that Sally loved dearly. Sally was an active member of Faith Assembly of God and faithfully attended her Bible study/prayer group. The ladies in this group became Sally's closest friends and were always held very near and dear to her heart. Sally always put her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ first which strengthened her love for her family. She was an adoring, caring, mother who loved beyond measure. When she became a grandmother her heart swelled with love and joy. She deeply cherished her time with her grandkids. Before long she became a great-grandmother or more appropriately "Great Sally". Sally enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, crafting, baking reading and entertaining. To know "Great Sally" was to love her. There will never be a warmer heart, more loving hug or kinder smile. To carry on her tradition of love and devotion, Sally leaves behind her daughter Becky (Gregg) Eaton of Willis Texas; sister Sandra Deroche of Fort Morgan, Colorado; Grandchildren, Joshua (Jo Lawson) Eaton of Casper, Wyoming, Justin (Becky) Eaton of Mesa, Arizona, and Kaleigh (Kyle) Niewald; great-granddaughters, Kyler and Keiren Eaton of Casper and Abigail and Alaina Eaton of Mesa, Arizona. When Sally's Lord and Savior welcomed her into Heaven Sally was greeted by her husband, Clyde E. Slate; Son, Alan Slates; Father, Benjamin Franklin Branstetter; mother, Laura Grace Branstetter; and sisters, Twyla Eldridge and Peggy Bailey. Memorial services will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, September, 15, 2015 at Oregon Trail States Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, WY with Pastor Craig Mellendorf of Casper Faith Assemble of God officiating. Memorial donations in her loving memory may be made to Celebrate Recovery, c/o Highland Park Community Church, 5725 Highland Drive, Casper, WY 82609.
