Russell Johnson

Russell E. Johnson, 66, husband of LaDonna J. Johnson (Lage) of Casper, WY passed away suddenly Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Born September 6, 1949, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He was the son of the late Nathan and Hazel (Ames) Johnson. Mr. Johnson attended Detroit Lakes High School, and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He later was a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard serving more than twelve years in the military. Throughout his life he was a Deputy Sheriff in Watford City, ND and Chief of Police in Enderlin, ND and later retired from Halliburton Oil Services in 2013. In his spare time if he was not hunting or fishing he was enjoying his active volunteer duties at the Eagles Club #306 as a trustee. He is survived by his wife, LaDonna, daughters Dana Bower (Rob) of Casper, WY and Lara Taylor (Woody) of Casper, WY; 2 grandsons, Billy of Cheyenne, Tanner of Casper and 2 granddaughters, Dakota Lynn and Payton Marie both of Casper. He is also survived by his brothers Gary (Paula) Johnson of Maine, David (Melissa) Johnson of Minnesota, Daniel (Cheryl) Johnson of Minnesota, Tim Johnson of Minnesota and his sisters Barb Bauer of Cody Wyoming, Margaret (Jim) Ketchen of South Dakota, Suzey Johnson Wilcox of Texas and many nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Memorial services for Russell will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 22, 2016 at Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Navy Honor Guard. Last call will be initiated by the Casper Police Department. Donations may be made to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #306.
