Roxie Kissler

December 16, 1951 — August 18, 2015

It is with incredible sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mrs. Roxie Malava Kissler. Roxie was born December 16, 1951 in Casper, WY to Rocky and Jean Thorpe and passed away August 18, 2015 at the young age of 63. On March 16, 1969, she married her first husband (deceased) with whom she had two children. After several years of raising three young children on her own, she met the man who would be her love, lifelong companion, and surrogate father to her children. On December 16, 1977, Roxie married Reuben Ronald Kissler, who brought his two daughters to the relationship. Roxie was a lifelong Casper resident where she and Ron raised their family supporting them through years of 4-H and FFA participation and on into adulthood. Throughout her life, Roxie constantly volunteered her time and energy to support her family's activities and the community. She was a fixture as a ring steward at the local horse show for many years, chaperoned countless fieldtrips and 4-H camps, and baked dozens of last minute cupcakes to send to school the next day. Roxie was a fantastic supporter of her children and when they had grown, she began working with special needs children in the Natrona County school system for many years giving them her own brand of love and encouragement. Roxie had many hobbies throughout her life including reading, crafting, darts, fishing, hunting, riding horses, stock car racing, raising her animals (especially her Corgis), and collecting her angels. She was a member of a local dart club team that competed regularly in Las Vegas; attended and supported the Saturday races at the Valentine Speedway and her crafts were frequently found in local craft sales. She was also very active in several clubs over the years like VFW Post 9439. However Roxie's greatest hobby was spoiling her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never failed to come up with fun activities, creative costumes, and good advice for them and even while giving them some really bad ideas like taking a puppy or kitten home with them. Roxie always lived her life on her own terms; she was tough, independent and fiercely protective of her family. She was also an overwhelmingly kind, thoughtful and generous soul who touched the hearts of so many. She loved living in Wyoming and her hometown of Casper surrounded by friends and family. Her quick smile and easy laugh would have made her friends anywhere but she loved the smell of sagebrush in the rain and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Roxie was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend who spent her life doing for others. Roxie is survived by her husband Ron Kissler of Casper, her children Merlisa Harrod of Savannah, GA, Rocky Thorpe (Karla), Seriann Davis (Mike) and Mykael Graham (Shawn) of Casper, WY; sisters Beverly Webb of Cheyenne, WY and Rainey Auen (Jeff) of Casper, WY; brothers Thomas Thorpe (Carolyn) of Spokane, WA and Rex Thorpe (Jane) of Thornton, CO, son-in-law Jason Blair (Amanda) of Arlington, TX; granddaughters Gillian and Briana Harrod of Savannah, GA, Courtney and Madison Blair of Arlington, TX, Tristan and Jhade Chase, Tristen Thorpe, Bryce Gannon, Christina, Jessica and Kimberly Graham all of Casper, WY; grandsons Curtis Day, Dustin Bitzenhofer, Andrew Thorpe, Chris Thorpe and Michael Chase of Casper, WY, Cody Hobgood of Arlington, TX; two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members in Iowa, and a wealth of friends and a very large extended "adopted" family especially the crew of E & F Towing, Marker family and Allen family. She took in every stray there was around Casper animal or human; but that was Roxie, she had a big, big heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rocky and Jean Thorpe; her first husband Curtis Bitzenhofer; her daughter Rhonda Blair; and grandson Wesley Harrod. Celebration of Roxie's life will be held 3 PM, Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the 1st United Methodist Church, Casper, WY with Pastor Beverly Webb and Pastor Jason Blair officiating. In lieu of flowers Memorials would be appreciated to help in offsetting funeral expenses. Roxie M. Kissler was a beautiful person inside and out, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
