Ross Frederick "Fritz" Ptasynski passed away at 12:00a.m. on September 16 in Torrance, California, following a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Born November 5, 1957, to Harry and Nola Ptasynski, Fritz grew up in Casper. He attended Garfield Elementary School, Dean Morgan Junior High and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1976. Fritz enjoyed Little League baseball and Junior football and was an accomplished skier. He learned fly fishing at age five and enjoyed trips to southern Big Horn creeks and Jakey's Fork, near Dubois, with his father. Although never taking it very seriously, he enjoyed playing golf at the Casper Country Club with his friends and family. Fritz displayed an early talent for art and even as a child, was constantly drawing. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles in 1980. Being the gifted artist that he was, he chose to remain in the highly competitive Los Angeles art world until his death. His art was his life and he had mastered nearly every media from pencil, to pen and ink, to oils, guache and photography. Fritz was a gentle and generous soul who loved his family, his friends and all animals. He was affiliated with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the Torrance area. The world is a lesser place without Fritz's humor, wisdom, loyalty, talent and love. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nola Grace and is survived by his father Harry Ptasynski of Casper, Wyoming and his sister, Lisa, of Washington state. Cremation has occurred and his ashes will be interred in Casper. At his request, no services will be conducted Any memorial contributions in his name made to the charity or cause of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
