Ronald Linch

Ronald Bruce Linch, Sr., 81 of Linch, Wyoming, died Monday, January 29, 2018, at Central Wyoming Hospice Kloefkorn Home in Casper, Wyoming. He was born August 16, 1936, in Midwest, Wyoming, to parents Wilfrid Bruce Linch and Dixie Lee ( Sowell ) Linch. As a young boy he grew up in Midwest. Wilfrid and family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where Wilfrid worked in the ship yards during WWII. They moved back to Wyoming where Ron attended school graduating from Midwest High School in 1954. In 1954 Ron and Betty Lou Sanders were married and to this union five children were born, JoAnn ( Chuck ) Marton, Ronda ( Danny ) Morse, Ronald Bruce Linch, Jr., ( Valorie ), Kathleen Linch, Russell ( Amy ) Linch. Ron began his college education at the School of Mines in Rapid City, South Dakota. He later transferred to the University of Wyoming graduating in civil engineering May of 1961. He was drafted for the Vietnam War moving to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, serving with the Army's 554 th Engineer Battalion. Here he was able to blast and crush rock in a quarry ( which was his special interest, his whole life ) ! After Fort Leonard Wood, the family moved back to Linch where Ron worked for Stafford Well Service. A few years later the family moved to South Dakota where Ron was hired by Northwest Engineering, supervising the construction of I-90 through Whitewood. With this project completed, the family moved to Alexandria, Minnesota. He became the president of a new company, Noyes Paving Corporation. After successfully completing many big asphalt paving projects in the area, the family moved back and settled on the ranch in Linch, Wyoming. The ranch was homesteaded by Ron's father, Wilfrid, who was inspired by the Homestead Act to move West. In 1919 Wilfrid ( homesteading ) moved from Lincoln, Nebraska, to the area now known as Linch, Wyoming. Moving back to Linch provided an opportunity for Ron to fulfill his dream of developing Sierra Construction Company. This new company began hauling gravel and blading roads in the Conoco oilfield. As Sierra grew, the company expanded into many areas such as water hauling, road construction, and building methane gas locations. He enjoyed flying his Cessna 182XP ( EXTRA POWER ) airplane. He attended Restoration Church in Casper, Wyoming, and of course liked driving his Volkswagens. Ron is survived by his 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, at 1:00 p.m., at the Restoration Church in Casper, Wyoming.
