Ronald Ampe (Lurch) April 9, 1948 to November 26, 2014 Ron passed away on November 26, 2014 at home in Mills following extended health issues. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 10am at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville. Ron was born in Marshfield, WI on April 9, 1948 to Paul and Clara Ampe. After graduating from Loyal High School, Loyal WI in 1966 he enlisted in the US Army. Ron served with the 25th Division from 1967 to 1970. He was in Vietnam in 1968 receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Ron worked many jobs, including bouncer at the Beacon, but his favorite was with the Disabled American Veterans. His talent in life was helping combat veterans adjust to civilian life, which he continued for the remainder of his life. Ron earned a BS in Social Work from the UW CC. He is survived by his wife Jane of 31 years, sons Michael Howard (Kylie) Cypress, TX, Joseph Howard (Monica) Colorado Springs, CO, Ken Ampe (Tara) Evansville and Chris Ampe Casper, brother Paul Ampe (Debbie) Racine, WI and sister Karen Brown (Jim)Thornton, Co, and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Clara Ampe, brother Pete Ampe and son Owen Howard. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Wounded Warriors at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
