Robert E. “Bob” Wiley, 80, of Dayton, WY passed away July 6, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born September 28, 1943, in Casper, WY to parents, Ione C. (Younglund) and Robert R.E. Wiley. He graduated from Natrona County High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1967. Following his honorable discharge from the military, he married Sharon Lee (Whetham) on July 18, 1968.
Bob worked for Pathfinder Mining in Shirley Basin and then in Jeffrey City for 30 years. He also worked for Wyoming Machinery for 12 years.
Bob was a two-time champion in Quick Draw in Casper. He also coached women’s softball for many years, winning several championships. He joined the Jeffrey City Roping Club and loved riding his horse, Bud. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Elk hunting was in his blood.
Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Sharon Wiley; daughter, Dianna Wegner of Sheridan, WY; son, Dan (Angel) Wiley of Sheridan, WY; granddaughters, Ashton (Ben) Longhofer of Sheridan, WY, Aubrey (Damon) Eastman of Billings, MT, and Hannah Coones of Washington, DC; and a great-granddaughter, Bohdie Longhofer of Sheridan, WY, who was the apple of his eye and made him happy and smiling.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in Memorial Gardens. Paul Marvel will officiate.
