Robert Edward Hilton, 92, passed away July 15, 2016, at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyoming, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born June 20, 1924 at Walter Reed Army Hospital, in Washington, D.C. He was the first born son of Harry Edward Hilton and Mildred Alene Oakley Hilton. A younger brother Richard, and younger sister Mary Lou, followed in the family. Bob spent his formative years in Cincinnati, Ohio, where his life's work and love of automation and electronics were learned at a vocational college. He joined the Army in 1942 and served in the Pacific during WW2 on Guam and Tinian islands, where he supported B-29 bomber missions against Japan. He was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant in 1945. Bob married his first wife, Helen Muriel Roff Hilton in Chicago, Illinois on September 17th, 1949. To this union were born three sons - Edmund Leneve Hilton (1950), Robert E. Hilton, Jr. (1950), and James Thomas Hilton (1961). Bob joined Esso Eastern Co (Exxon) in the l950's, and this career carried him and his family all over the world. His family lived in India, Libya, the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia. He concluded his career with Exxon working in Tokyo, Japan, where he built and commissioned offshore oil platforms. In Tokyo he married his second wife, Joan Roberta Tait Williams Hilton on February 24th, 1983. They later lived in Calgary, Spokane, and finally Casper, Wyoming. Bob had many hobbies and an inventive mind. He never stood still and was always solving problems. Earlier in his life he raced go-karts, built a one-man hovercraft, and flew a hang glider. He learned to downhill ski in Canada at age 62, and enjoyed golf well into his 80's. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather who always expressed great pride in his family. We will miss his cheerfulness, encouragement, love, and support. He was a true gentleman from the greatest generation. Bob has been preceded in death by his parents, his brother and his sister, and also his wives Helen and Joan. He is survived by his third wife, Nayna Louk McKenzie Hilton, whom he married on March 24th, 2006 in Casper, Wyoming. He is survived by his three sons - Ed (Lill Grant), Bob (Jayne Bellando), and Jim (Sally Parrigin). He is also survived by eight grandchildren - Anna Elizabeth Hilton, Julie Lynn Hilton, Zachary Edward Hilton (Regenia Osborn), Peter James Hilton (Mary Susan Ligon), Abigail Elaine Hilton Reed, Amy Snow Hilton, Sarah Chamberlin Hilton, and Gracie Parrigin Hilton. He is survived by his three great-grandchildren - Joseph Edward Hilton, Hanna Grace Hilton, and Claire Anna Hilton-Szedeli. Robert Edward Hilton's long and joyous life will be celebrated and his cremains will be buried alongside Helen Roff Hilton in Heber Springs, Arkansas at a later date.
