Robert Hugh Chase was born on March 27, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to Alyth Juanita Rodda Chase (Jean) and George Franklin Chase (Jack). They moved to California in 1931. Robert attended Long Beach City College and went to Colorado School of Mines where he earned a Silver Diploma in Petroleum Engineering. He later earned his master's degree in economics at Redlands, USC. He served in the Army during the Korean War as a military police Sergeant. He worked for Standard Oil in Venezuela from 1955 to 1957. On November 1, 1958 he married JoAnn Marie Chick in Alhambra, California. They resided in Lytle Creek California, where they owned a resort, Bonita Ranch, until a major flood destroyed their home and business in 1969. On March 2, 1961 JoAnn presented Robert with twins, Bret Allen Chase and Carnot Renee Chase. Robert returned to his profession as Petroleum Engineering in 1969 and the family moved to Olean, New York where Robert worked for New York Oil and Gas. In 1981, Robert joined the Department of the Interior, BLM, as a Petroleum Engineer in Rock Springs, Wyoming and was transferred to Casper in 1993. He passed away on May 1, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn, his son Bret Allen Chase, his daughter, Carnot Renee Chase Bearnson, his granddaughter, Hallie Marie Bearnson, his grandson, Joseph Brian Bearnson, his daughter in law Theresa Le Chase, his granddaughter May Le Chase all of Casper. He is also survived by his cousin, Billie Jean Leone of Santa Monica, California He is a direct descendent of Aguila Chase, who in the 1600's brought 7 shiploads of pilgrims to Newburyport, Massachusetts, before remaining himself. He is also a descendent of Samuel Chase, signor of the Declaration of Independence, and Salmon Chase, Secretary of Treasury under Lincoln. As per Robert's request, no funeral service will be held and he will be cremated and returned to his ranch in Casper.
