Funeral services for Robert August Baden, 96, will be held at 3 p.m. April 9, 2016 at Mount Hope Lutheran Church, with Pastor Richard Boche officiating. Burial will be held at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on April 11. Robert (Bob) Baden died April 5, 2016 at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper. He was born October 2, 1919 in Independence Kansas to August and Mildred (Meyer) Baden. He was raised and educated in Independence Kansas. On December 26, 1940 he enlisted in the US Army Air Corp, and served in the Pacific Theater with the 49th Fighter Group. After discharge on October 5, 1945 he returned to Independence Kansas where he met and married his wife of 66 years, JoAnn M. Ellis. After various moves the couple settled down in Casper, Wyoming in 1959, where Robert worked for Platte Pipe Line until his retirement in 1987. He was a Charter Member of Mount Hope Church, serving in many capacities and setting an example of faithfulness and stewardship. Robert was active in many fields, including Boy Scouts where he was recognized with the Silver Beaver and was a four Bead Wood Badge Trainer; Model Railroading where he was Wyoming's first Master Model Railroader; Lion's Club in various roles, and his Church. He will be remembered for his love of God and family, his leadership, his many accomplishments, and joy for his Risen Savior. Survivors include his sisters Bette Dunbar and Sylvia Zwingleberg of Colorado, brother Ken Baden of California, son Michael (Pamela) of Casper, four grandchildren, one niece and 3 nephews and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife JoAnn, and his son Thomas. Memorials may be given in Robert's name to Mount Hope Lutheran Church and School.
