Richard Sherman

Born December 11, 1933 in Midwest, WY to Cecil and Mable Sherman; Richard grew up in various locations in central Wyoming and graduated from Worland High School in Worland, WY in 1950. Following graduation, he worked in the oilfields as a roughneck until he enlisted in the US Army in 1954. The majority of his active duty assignment was spent in Korea as a light weapons infantryman. After his discharge in 1956, he returned to work in the oilfields of Wyoming. Shortly after his return he met the love of his life, Bessie Underwood when she came to Casper on vacation. Following a whirlwind romance, Dick and Bessie were married in Reno, Nevada on December 28, 1956. Following their marriage, he went to work for Electric Service Company in Casper, WY. During his career, his work took the family to Salt Lake City, Utah, Twin Falls, Idaho, Denver, Colorado, and finally back to Casper. Dick retired from Ryall Electric in December 1998. Dick enjoyed hunting, camping, golf, bowling, and morning coffee at the coffee shop with his old cronies. His real passion was wetting a line in a lake or river. He loved his fishing, but even more than fishing Dick loved being surrounded by his family, of which he was extremely proud. He truly loved teasing and being teased by his grandkids! He was a proud member of The Rotary Club and The Glenrock Assembly of God Church. Dick departed this world to be with The Lord, May 20, 2014. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Bessie, of Glenrock, his son Robert (Kathy) of Cheyenne, his son Paul (Dawn) of Rapid City, South Dakota, six grandchildren, six Great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Dick was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother and sister, and his daughter Charlotte.
