On Friday, March 16, 2018, Richard (Dick) Wayne Dresang passed away surrounded in love by his children and his sister, Beth. He was born on Mother's Day, May 11, 1947, in Appleton, Wisconsin to Norbert and Margie Dresang. Dick graduated from the University of Wisconsin with double majors in social work and public speaking in 1971. In 1974, he earned a Master of Science in social work, and in 1982 a Master of Public Administration from the University of Wyoming. He also served in the U.S. Army. In 1974, he became executive director of the Green Bay Area Free Clinic. He was a dedicated advocate for youth, and after moving to Wyoming in 1982 he became Executive Director of the Youth Crisis Center in Casper. He helped open two long-term group homes: The Hemry Home for girls and the R. L. Mills Home for boys. Dick would continue to help children in crisis for the next 19 years. He loved Casper and served the community in many ways. He was a board member for numerous organizations, including the Wyoming Medical Center Foundation. He was a charter member of the Five Trails Rotary Club, a Leadership Casper alumnus, a past officer of the Natrona County Child Protection Team and member of the Natrona County Juvenile Planning Committee, the Governor's Council on Mental Health and the United Way of Natrona County. Dick had a passion for current events and cooking for family and friends. One of his family's favorite meals was his famous spaghetti and meatballs. He is deeply missed by his children and their spouses, Jill (Darin), Vicki (Larry), Christopher (Marissa), and Nicklaus (Amanda) as well as his grandchildren, Mitchell, Jacob, Emily, Abigail, Noah, Suri, Mayoree, Gabriael, Julianna, and Lincoln. He is survived by his siblings, Dennis (Maxine) and Karen (Louie) and Joel (Mary) and Beth (Kevin), by his first wife Barbara, his second wife, JoEllen and many nieces and nephews. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gary and Bryon, and his beloved golden retriever Morgan (Morgie). Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 22, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church,1401 CY Avenue, Casper, Wyoming. Military honors and final resting place will be at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.
