Richard Bates

Richard ‘Dick' Allen Bates, 79 of Casper WY passed away on Jan 2, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Mountain View Baptist Church. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Richard was born in Gillette, WY on November 24, 1931 to George and Alice Bates. After leaving his homestead in Gillette he worked and lived in many areas of the state. Among his favorites were Riverton and Rock Springs. He worked heavy equipment most of his life, in the Gas Hills and retired from the Natrona County Road & Bridge in 1995. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything to do with animals and children. His family was the most important thing in his life. Richard is survived by his wife, Linda Bates (McKinney) of forty years. His 13 children, Cynthia, Rick (Carol), Nancy (Jerry), Jeanette, Elizabeth, Johnny (Sherri), Becky (Byron), Camron, Maralee, Kenny (Jamie), Susan (Nana), Mark and Karen; 23 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren; three brothers Donald (Elsie), Scott (Ethel), and James (Carol) Bates; also many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Bates, a baby boy, Vance and a baby girl, Ramona and one grandchild, Levi.
