Rebecca Carpenter

Rebecca Jo Carpenter, 64, a lifelong resident of Casper, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2012 at Wyoming Medical Center. Becky was born on May 4, 1948, to James (Carp) and Ruby Carpenter. She attended Casper schools and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1964. She earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Casper College in 1966 and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO, in 1968. She returned to Casper following her graduation and was a teacher at A.J. Woods School for over 20 years until illness forced her early retirement. Becky had an impeccable sense of taste and style and enjoyed decorating her home and tending to her yard. Christmas was an especially happy time for her as she delighted in choosing just the right gift with just the right wrap! Becky was brought great joy from her cat, Sammie, her good companion. She enjoyed the challenges of her work with her special needs students and when presented with her own challenges, she met them head on with determination and courage. Becky was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ruby Carpenter, and one sister, Pamela Carpenter, all of Casper. She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline Valdez, of Casper, her sister, Debbie Wiatrak and her husband, Butch, of New Jersey, her nephews and nieces, Eric Valdez and his wife, Heather, of Casper, Kelly Valdez and her partner, Soheila Ghaussy, of Maryland, Matthew Wiatrak and his wife, Terri, of New Jersey, Brianne Angerame and her husband Chris, also of New Jersey, her greatnieces, Becca and Erin Valdez, Emerson and Harper Wiatrak, and her greatnephew Beau Wiatrak. A celebration of her life will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home, 600 CY Ave., Casper, WY, on Monday, November 19, at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Diabetic Association, The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, or the American Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
