Ramola Jean "Jeanne" Emerson passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of November 29, 2018 in Casper, Wyoming. She was born October 2, 1939 to Wesley and Esther Jensen in Omak, Washington. At a young age, the family returned to their home town of Minden, Nebraska, where she grew up and attended school. She was musically inclined and played the coronet in her family band, "The Wes Jensen Combo." While still in high school, she caught the eye of a charter pilot, Francis Verne "Steve" Stephenson. Steve was several years older than Jeanne and was known to "buzz" the school while on his flights. After Jeanne graduated they were married on August 16, 1959, and moved to Hastings, Nebraska, where they ran an automotive repair shop together. From there they moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where Pamela Jean, Penny Jo, and Stephen Douglas were born. Next was Arvada, Colorado, where Dean Bennett was born. Then to Douglas, Wyoming and finally home to Casper. Jeanne worked with Steve as his bookkeeper and secretary in their automotive business. She was also a very active 4-H leader, who rode a horse beautifully. She loved hosting trail rides and horse fun days at their place in the country. Jeanne was the best wife and mother anyone could ask for. She was married to Steve for 28 years, and they loved each other deeply. After Steve's death, she married Russell James Emerson on November 27, 1987. They had just celebrated their 31stAnniversary. In those 31 years, they worked hard on their property, danced a lot, and traveled a bit. They loved one another and loved being with family. They opened their home every Christmas Eve for cherished celebrations and many other family get-togethers. They just loved spending time together. Jeanne had a kind and passionate heart. She was always ready to help when she saw a need. She was a peacemaker, and would always say, "I'm a lover, not a fighter." In 2017 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease. She knew she couldn't remember day-to-day activities, but she always knew her family and close friends. She was fearful that she would suffer for years, as her own mother had, from the disease. She tried her hardest to fight against it by making notes and trying to keep a calendar. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve; and her brother, John (Patricia) Jensen; and 3 step children. She is survived by her husband, Russ; her sister, Joan (Ross) Smith; daughters, Pam (Andy) Bartosh; Penny (Danny) Henderson; sons, Steve (Samon) Stephenson; Dean (Catrina) Stephenson; her step children, Robert (Sue) Stephenson; Diana (Richard) Frank; Shelby Zabielskis; Eric (Sharon) Emerson; Arne Emerson; Kristen Emerson; and 28 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, Nieces, nephews, and friends. Jeanne will always be cherished, loved, and missed. The only thing the family requests is prayer, especially for Russ. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Paradise Valley Christian Church in Casper. Tributes and condolences many be left at Bustardcares.com.
