Rachel Herrera

Rachel Herrera age 39 took her last breath on earth and first breath in heaven on December 3, 2014 joining her grandparents Jose S. and Lucia M. Martinez. Rachel was a strong independent mother of three children; Adrian age 15, Aaliyah age 5, and Nico age 3. Rachel touched so many lives in the short time we had with her. She had a heart so big and inspired all who crossed her path. Rachel loved helping people and was working on a degree to become a social worker. While working on her degree Rachel was employed as an administrative assistant at New York Life, with Dan and Holy and in Rachel's words "the best bosses ever". Rachel was diagnosed with stomach cancer in May of 2014 and fought hard and strong until the end. Rachel leaves behind her beautiful children, Mother Erline Martinez, Siblings Lucy, Daniel, Jenni, and Jesse. Nephews Richard, Johnathon, William, Dominic, her favorite Niece Haylee, several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Rachel formed many loving relationships with friends and family, including her chosen sisters; Jami and Patricia who were by her side till the end. A special quote to describe our dear sweet Rachel: "I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people" Maya Angelou.
