Rachel Launspach went to be with her Lord on Thursday October 10, 2013. Rachel was born to John and Luisa Lewis in February 7, 1926 in New Raymer, Colorado. She grew up in various locations across Nebraska and Wyoming. Rachel met and married Richard Johnson in Powell, Wyoming. They lived 23 years in Riverton and then moved to Casper. When this marriage ended, as a single parent, she worked for Kasis Women's Clothing Store in Casper where she is remembered as being a helpful and loyal employee. She met Russell Launspach and was married to him until his death in 1995. As a result of her decision to move to Skyline Towers, many valued friendships developed. A close relationship with Dale Boman and his family were especially near and dear to her. Another good friend, Loretta Smith, has been a devoted helper going above and beyond the call of duty to assist Rachel when needed. Rachel was a marvelous seamstress, enjoyed gardening and kept her family well cared for. She loved her Lord and Savior and seldom missed a day of Bible reading. Firmly believing God answers prayer, friends and family (each mentioned by name),were daily brought before God. Her church was very special to her, particularly her Sunday School teacher Myrtle Peterson who was a loyal friend. Rachel had five children. Two have preceded her in death, LaVonne as an infant and her son, Bryan Johnson who died in a motorcycle accident. Her parents, three sisters, and a brother as well as four half sisters have gone on before her. Surviving family are children Marcia (Johnson) Lee of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Bradley Johnson of Boise, Idaho and Trudi (Johnson) Royer of Colorado Springs, Colorado and their spouses. Seven grand children and six great grandchildren also survive her. Services will be held at College Heights Baptist Church Monday at 10:30 AM. Interment following at Highland Cemetery.
