Funeral services for Father Pietro Philip Colibraro, 86, will be held at 3:00 P.M., on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with the Father Carl Gallinger officiating accompanied by the priests of the Cheyenne Diocese. Private inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 12PM to 5PM preceding the Rosary at 7PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He died March 31, 2017 in Casper, Wyoming. He was born on December 7, 1930 in Casper, Wyoming, the son of Carlo and Felicia (DiLuzio) Colibraro. He studied at St. Thomas Seminary, Denver, Colorado, from 1949 to 1957. He did advanced studies at the University of Utah in 1971 and 1972 and Loyola University, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972. He held a Master's Degree in Communications. He was ordained by Bishop Hubert M. Newell, D.D., on June 1, 1957. His entire priesthood was spent serving the people of Wyoming. He began his priestly ministry at Holy Name Church in Sheridan, as Associate pastor in 1957. He thence went to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Rock Springs, in 1960, St. Patrick Church in Kemmerer in 1962 and was Administrator of St. Paul Church in Pine Bluffs also in 1962. Later that same year he was appointed Associate pastor at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, Rock Springs, and in 1964 was Administrator of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, also in Rock Springs. He received first pastorate at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Evanston, in 1966, and from there went to St. Paul Church, Pine Bluffs, as Pastor in 1972. He was editor of the Wyoming Catholic Register from 1972-78. In 1978 he was appointed Pastor of St. James Parish in Douglas, where he built the new St. James Church. On July 9, 1990 he was made Co-Pastor of Our Lady Fatima Church in Casper. Then on September 1, 1997, he was made sole Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima, where he remained until his retirement on June 28, 2001. Survivors include his sister, Rose Colibraro (Sister Mary Carlo) of Leavenworth, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his Brother, Daniel Colibraro. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice at 319 South Wilson, Casper, WY 82601, or they may be left at Bustard's Funeral Home and Crematory at 600 CY Avenue in Casper, which is in charge of arrangements.
