Graveside services for Phyllis Nadine Branch will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 1, 2011 at Highland Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Mrs. Branch passed away July 25, 2011 at Life Care Center in Casper, Wyoming. Phyllis was born in Cummings Iowa (Lucas County) and stayed there one year. She then moved with her mom and dad and two brothers to a farm on 160 acres, 12 miles out of Bayfield, Wisconsin, and lived there until she was 12 years old. They then moved to Casper, Wyoming when she was 13. She went to Lincoln school for one-half of the 8th grade, then on to the 9th grade through high school at NCHS. Phyllis quit school in the middle of 11th grade and went to work as a cook and waitress at the Mapleway bowling alley Casper. When she turned 18, she applied for a job at the telephone company and worked from a trainee to assistant chief operator for 5 years. During that time she married William James Garner and had one son, David in 1953. The marriage ended and she met Clifford Lloyd Failes. They married and had three children, Chuck in 1955, Jeanine in 1960 and John in 1961. She was an assistant Girl Scout leader, Vice President of the PTA at Roosevelt, where she helped put 5000 books in the library. Phyllis was also room mother at school for many years and worked as a volunteer for anyone who needed cooking and cleaning. She was preceded in death by husband Clifford and son John, and her long time companion, Jimmy Ray Lara. She is survived by her three grandchildren, Courtney, Tierney and Tony and one great-grandchild, Johnnie.
