Paul Shelton, 54, passed away peacefully in his home of heart failure. He was born and lived the first half of his life in New Mexico, primarily in Las Cruces. He earned a BS in Agronomy and a Masters in Soil Science from New Mexico State University. He began working for the USDA Soil Conservation Service in 1985 as a Soil Conservationist in Malad, Idaho. There, he met his future wife, Jodi, whom he married in 1989. They moved from Malad to Montpelier, Idaho in 1990 when Paul became the District Conservationist for Bear Lake County. In November of 1995 Paul was hired as the State Agronomist in Wyoming for NRCS. He later became the Assistant State Conservationist in charge of operations, a position he held up until his death. He was an avid Fly fisherman, loving nothing more than to be out on the trout stream casting his line. He enjoyed hunting, backpacking and all things outdoors. He has two girls, Kadi and Sydni, whom he loved even more than fishing. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated or a memorial fund for his children has been established at Bank of the West.
