Funeral services for Roger Cossart, 87, will be held at the Fort Caspar Museum building on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 1:00 P.M., with Tom Strock officiating. Roger died at Central Wyoming Hospice. Roger was born October 29, 1928 in Cooper, S. D., to Ralph and Ruth (Palmer) Cossart. Roger was the last child born, joining, brother, Lawrence and sisters Francis, Grace, Velma, and Roberta. Roger's father Ralph passed away when Roger was only 6 years old. At the age of 15, Roger and his family moved to Casper, Wyoming. Roger soon found work for area ranchers Van Irwin, Herman Werner, Tim Mahoney and Jack Allemand. In Sept 20, 1951, he was drafted into the army, for the Korean Conflict and was sent to the Panama Canal, for his service duty. After returning from Panama, he started working at the Standard Oil Company and doing day labor for ranchers. He soon meets Beverly Dickau and they are married on December 4, 1954. Together they have four children Joanne (Bill) Holland, Sharon (Clint) Rodeman, Billie Jean Hirsch, and Rob (Warrie) Cossart. Roger and Beverly ranched together in Natrona, Converse and Weston counties for over 56 combined years, raising cattle, sheep and a few horses, before retiring in Casper, Wyoming to be close to family. In later years Roger loved hunting elk, pack trips, fishing and helping any of his kids and grandkids. He will be missed by all his family and friends. "He taught by example, and you had to walk very fast, or run, to follow in his footsteps." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger's name to the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center, 1501 poplar, Casper, WY or Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, WY
