Norman Asbury

Norman Paul Asbury was born October 5, 1925 in Hoisington, KS to Edward Crockett Asbury and Theodosia Earnest Kirkpatrick. He died on May 2, 2019 at the age of 93 in Casper, WY. Norm grew up in Hoisington, KS, Battle Mountain, NV, and Salt Lake City, Utah as his dad was a railroad supervisor. Norm served in the US. Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in General Patton's 3rd Army. He was in the infantry and walked across Belgium and into Germany. Norm was very proud of his military service. After WWII ended, Norm returned to Salt Lake City and married Karolyn Jensen in 1957. The family then moved to Casper and Norm adopted Kay's two children. Norm and Kay had two more sons and later divorced. Norm worked as a TV repairman until he was recruited by Xerox Corp. in 1963. He was the first and only tech for Xerox in Wyoming at that time. After 28 years of service, he retired after receiving numerous awards and certifications. Norm had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. Norm liked hunting, fishing, exploring Wyoming, reading, watching western movies, and a cold bottle of beer (or two) with family and friends. He is survived by his companion Teresa Jones of Casper, daughter Jody VonSeggern of Casper, sons Tyler of Kaneohe, HI, Matthew of Phoenix, AZ, and Chris of Casper and 4 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Eleanor Lattimore, and brothers Truman, Everett, Kenneth, and Stanley. Norm lived at Mountain Plaza Assisted Living in Casper for the past year. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff there and also private caregivers for the care they gave Norm. Any donations in honor of Norm can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or The WWII Museum in Casper. No services will be held at Norm's request.
