Nona Muller

February 22, 1924 — February 9, 2014

Nona Muller passed away on February 9, 2014 in Denver Colorado after a short illness. Nona was born and raised in Casper, the daughter of Charlie and Jo Niethammer. After attending Natrona County High School, Nona furthered her education first at Mills College and then at the University of Colorado. After graduating from CU, Nona moved to Cheyenne to pursue a career in journalism, working at the local paper. While in Cheyenne, she met her future husband Bill Muller having been introduced by his sisters Jane and Joan, who were sorority sisters of Nona. Soon after Nona and Bill were married, they moved to Casper where they raised their daughters Linda Nielsen, Marilyn Muller and Lisa Haddox. Nona enjoyed raising the children and was a wonderful wife and mother. Throughout her life she continued her education as well. She was never without a book to read, or two or three. She and Bill were part of a Great Books group and later a play reading group with friends. She was devoted to music and to the theater. Casper provided so many opportunities to meet friends and enhance the community. Nona was on the board of the Natrona County Public Library. She was an ardent bridge player, and belonged to the garden club and an investment club as well. Nona loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook and hostess. She was known for her strong intelligence, her quick wit and her sweet nature. Nona was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Reilly; her beloved daughter, Linda Nielsen and her treasured husband, Bill Muller who died in September of last year. She is survived by her son in law, Erling Nielsen; granddaughters, Sarah and Gita Nielsen (Canada); daughter, Marilyn Muller (Massachusetts); daughter, Lisa Haddox; son-in-law, Charley Haddox; grandson, Hugh Haddox; granddaughter, Betsy Haddox (Colorado). In lieu of flowers donations to the Natrona County Public Library or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Thursday, February 20th at 11: AM.
