Nestora "Nettie" Romero, 90, died, September 1, 2017 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Casper, Friday, September 15 at 1:30 p.m. with Father Hugo L. Blotsky officiating. A Parish Vigil will be held at the church Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Nettie was born June 14, 1927 at Guadalupia, NM to Nestor and Amelia (Torres) Gonzales. She was raised and educated in Mora, NM. She married the love of her life, Ernesto Romero in 1945 in Holman, NM. Ernesto dies, July 5, 2011. Nettie and Ernesto moved to Casper in 1956. Nettie tended bar for 15 years. Her next job was cleaning homes and commercial buildings for about 20 years. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and belonged to the Senior Citizen Center. She is survived by two sons: Jesse (Marlene) Romero, Aurora, CO, and Philip James Romero, Casper; and, one daughter: Margaret Rita Popovich, Albuquerque, NM, brother, Nerio Gonzales, Guadalupia, NM, and sister, Margaret Shaw, Colorado Springs, CO, and, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernesto, son, Ernie Romero, and daughters, Margaret Agnes Romero and JoAnn Perry, brothers Isaiah and Hildadeo, and sister, Angelina Munoz. Donations in memory of Nestora may be made to the St. Anthony Building Fund and Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home. Graveside services will follow the funeral Mass at Highland Cemetery.
