Nathel “Pat” Lewis Casteel was born April 9, 1921 in Paris, Idaho to Leona Amy Palmer Lewis and Elzo Wayne Lewis. Pat had one sister, Mavis Amy.
Pat grew up in Oakley and Kemmerer, Wyoming. She graduated high school in 1938, at which time Pat became employed by the National Youth Administration in Weiser, Idaho. She then furthered her career in the Civil Service at the Army Airfield and the Naval Ordinance Plant in Pocatello from 1942 to 1945 as a stenographer.
Throughout her career with the Civil Service, Pat traveled extensively until she met and married Thomas Casteel in 1946. The two were wed in San Rafael, California. After her marriage, Pat continued her secretarial career for many businesses throughout Wyoming and Colorado. They finally settled in Casper in 1953 where they raised their four children, Susan, Steve, Kathy, and Debra. Pat was employed with Culverts & Industrial Supply until her retirement in 1986.
Pat was an avid bowler and a very creative and artistic woman. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and painting. She loved playing cards and Bingo with family and friends. Her heart’s delight was camping, outings, and family gatherings. Pat was loved by all and she touched the hearts of many.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Casteel; parents, Leona and Elzo; sister, Mavis; son, Steven Casteel; grandson, Drew Stone; and great-granddaughter, Bristol Haag.
She is survived by daughters, Susan Stone, Kathy Poeppel, and Debra Haag; grandchildren, Dana Maestas, Derek Stone, Nathan Poeppel, Jeremy Haag, Nichole Haag, and Louis Poeppel; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her best friend of many years, Roselee Day.
Pat has been laid to rest in Kemmerer, Wyoming next to her parents, sister, brother-in-law, and nephew. A memorial service will be held December 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Latter-Day Saints, 1922 S. Poplar, Casper, WY, 82601
