Nancy Nation

Nancy Elaine (Ort) Nation was born on March 8, 1962 in Casper, Wyoming to Henry and Annabeth (Lott) Ort. Nancy passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 due to complications from multiple sclerosis at the age of 55. She is survived by her husband, Rodney Nation and their two daughters Ashley Nation (Zachary Person) and Dana (Nation) Christy. Nancy was raised in Casper with her four siblings, Christine (Mark) Knittle, David Ort, Alvin (Gina) Ort, and Glen Ort. Nancy graduated from Natrona County High School in 1980. In 1982, Nancy married Rodney Nation. Nancy loved working. Her first job was a neighborhood paper route as a teenager and even as an adult; Nancy took tremendous pride in having been chosen as newspaper carrier of the month! After studying electronics for a year at Central Wyoming College, Nancy began working at Two Way Radio Service in 1981, first as a radio and portable installer before making her way to senior portable technician. She truly valued her time working in the family business, and was very sad when she had to retire in 2003 due to the MS. Giving back to her community was always important to Nancy. She demonstrated this value in many different ways throughout her life. She was a Brownie Girl Scout leader for several years. Nancy loved showing off projects that her Girl Scout troop created and sharing memories of her wonderful girls. Nancy also enjoyed volunteering at her daughter's schools, especially in the orchestra program at NC. Nancy was one of the nicest people on the planet, if not the nicest. She had a light and smile that brightened everyone's day who had the opportunity to meet her. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her daughters, watching her favorite television shows, and meeting new people. A service honoring Nancy will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at Bustard's Funeral Home. Dana Christy will be hosting a gathering at her home at 3:00 pm the same day. Her address is 2017 S. Melrose. The Nation family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Shepherd of the Valley in Casper for their attentiveness and loving care towards Nancy.
