Nancy Grace Crowder passed away on July 19, 2012, at Central Wyoming Hospice. She was born on November 24, 1928, in National City, California, to William Dale and Olive Melvina Masters. Her childhood was spent in Guernsey, Wyoming, with her parents and her older brother, Bill. She arrived in Casper at the age of 11 to live with her Aunt Ruth and Uncle Mitchell McIntire. While in Casper, she loved the outdoors and was a tomboy. Nancy had a gift with horses and earned many awards for her equestrian skills, which included trick riding. She and her Aunt and Uncle spent many summers at the Flathead Lake in Montana, where her family had a cherry orchard. These summers were some of her fondest memories. She graduated from NCHS in 1946. She attended Stephens College in Missouri and earned a bachelor's degree. Her first husband was Larry Wolf. After divorcing Larry, she married Retired LCDR Clyde Earl Crowder. They raised a family in Cypress, California, where Nancy worked as an educator until she became a stay-at-home mom in 1965. Her greatest love was her family. She cherished her children and never missed a school or athletic activity, always lending a helping hand. She was very active in Girl Scouts, Boys Scouts, and the PTA. She loved to camp, sew, cook, and listen to others. Nancy adored her neighbors and friends, and her generosity was present every day of her life. Her first thoughts were always of others. She returned home to Casper in 1995 after the death of her husband, Clyde. She kept busy by volunteering for the NIC and the science zone. She was a member of the AAUW, and Natrona County Historical Society. Nancy loved Casper and her Casper Mountain. This will always be her home. Nancy is survived by her adult children, Clydine, Stuart, and Dayle; Stuart's daughter, Brandelle, Dayle's children, Jillian, Pearce, and Cooper; nephews, John, and Mitch; nieces, Carol, Nancy, Susan, and Sally; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her first-born son, Brant, her brother Bill and his wife, Emma Rose. Memorials may be made to the Casper Humane Society or the Central Wyoming Hospice. Condolences for the family may be made to bustardsfuneralhome.com.
