Myrtle Hamlet

Myrtle Belle (Dolly) Hamlet passed away October 23, 2011, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Parker Colorado, where she had been a short time resident. She lived in Newcastle, WY with her son, Ernie Hamlet for one and a half years before taking up residence in 2009 with her grandson Daniel McFall in Parker Colorado. She was born on September 17, 1918 in Billings, Montana to Viola Whitbeck Ingalls and George Ingalls. She was raised by her mother's sister and husband, Oniegh Elizabeth Whitbeck Pou and Robert Ernest Pou. She grew up on the Pou Ranch east of Casper, Wyoming. Dolly graduated from Glenrock High School in1936 and attended the University of Wyoming. She married William Colvard Green Hamlet on September 17, 1937 at Parkerton, Wyoming. The couple settled in Casper, Wyoming. They had two children, Viola Lee Hamlet (McFall) Potter, and Robert Ernest Hamlet She worked for the Atomic Energy Commission, Karl Krusmark Architects, and the County Welfare Department. Later she worked as a secretary for East Junior High School for eight years. Her husband was transferred to Illinois in 1965 and they lived there until his retirement in 1975 and moved back to Casper. She was a devoted Christian Scientist for over 70 years, was very active in her church, and on the Church Board of Directors. She also helped start the Christian Science Youth Forum. Dolly was a member of the Eastern Star, and an active member of the Beauceant of Casper. She was an ever present strength, support and role model for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She passed down a legacy of love of God and family to them. She is survived by her son, Robert Ernest Hamlet, grandchildren, Daniel Ray McFall, Steven McFall, Shannon McFall MacDougall, Valerie (Hamlet) Jensen, Robert Jason Hamlet, Pauline (Hamlet) Liggett, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William C, Hamlet, daughter Viola Lee (McFall) Potter, parents Oneigh and Robert E Pou, and two brothers William and George Ingalls. Funeral services will be held on June 5, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Bustard's Funeral Home, West Chapel, in Casper, Wyoming. A short reception will be held after the service at the Shrine Club. In lieu of flowers, please make checks payable to the American Red Cross in the name of Dolly Hamlet.
