Mona "Marie" (Norton) Ison, 78, of Casper, departed this world to be with The Lord on July 2, 2015. She resided at Shepherd of the Valley, and was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Born on April 15, 1937 in Casper, Wyoming, to Ralph Raymond "Jack" and Mona Adele Underwood, she was known by Marie to her family and most of her friends. Marie grew up in various locations in the Midwestern and Western States. In Marie's younger years, along with her sisters, Bessie and Jackie, she took singing and dance lessons, and their instructor formed the group "The Three Little Sisters". They took their song and dance routine to many different military bases in California during World War II. They had a talent scout, and also had a screen test scheduled in Hollywood, but their father decided he did not want his precious daughters growing up in the "Hollywood Environment", so they moved back to Casper, Wyoming. In 1954, at the age of 17, she married Elbert Elijah "Al" Norton in Hayward, CA. Together they raised three children. She never lost her love of music, or performing. Marie continued singing, and encouraged her children to sing, and to learn various instruments, which eventually evolved into the music group, "The Norton Family". Her desire was to touch people's lives through gospel music. After being a loving, devoted wife and mother for over 16 years, she returned to school in 1973. She earned her High School Diploma from Mount Diablo High School in Concord, California. She was very proud to walk across that stage to "accept" her Diploma! She was very proud of her family and enjoyed the time she spent with them. Because she was a kid at heart, she related to and influenced children of all ages, from infants to those in High School and beyond. Marie also enjoyed dancing, traveling, reading, watching football, and being involved in prison ministries and many other ministry opportunities. She was preceded in death by an infant son, her mother and father, two spouses, and younger sister, Donna. Marie is survived by her son, Alan Norton (McMinnville, TN), her daughters , Marie Norton (Denton, TX) and Melody (Steve) Tyler (Eagle River, AK), two sisters, Bessie Sherman and Jackie Gallinger (Glenrock, WY), 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 3 nephews. There will be a Graveside Service at Glenrock Cemetery District on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 12:00p.m. In honor of Marie, memorials may be made to the charity closest to your heart.
