I know how much you will miss me, I see the pain in your heart, but I am not so far away, we really aren't apart. So be happy for me, dear ones, you know I hold you near, and be glad I'll be spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year. Miriam Mae Melcher, was born on January 9,1935 to Henry and Anna Melcher in Mitchell, Nebraska, delivered by her Grandmother Schannaman. The family farmed in Yoder, Wyoming where Miriam went to school. She graduated from Yoder High School in 1953. In November of that year, she met and married Ted Relka. They resided in Mitchell, and later moved to Terrytown, between Scottsbluff and Gering Nebraska. In 1954, they had their first daughter, Sharon Kaye, who passed at birth. In 1957, they were blessed with another daughter, Connie Sue. In 1969, they were divorced; Miriam and Connie moved to Casper, Wyoming, to be closer to her mother, Anna Melcher, brother, Henry Jr. and sister, Lori Hinton. Miriam worked a bookkeeper to support her daughter. In 1977, she married Rudy Temple, whom she knew from earlier years. She accepted Christ into her life as her personal savior in 1986. She was very active at Highland Park Church, participating in the choir; on missions' boards and secretary of the woman's group for 14 years. She was co-chairman of the Highland Park craft fair and was well known as "The Pie Lady" as she usually sold all her goodies. She cooked for many of the church functions, as it brought her joy to serve all. Her way of showing that she loved and cared for all. Christmas and Easter brought her out in the early morning, placing goodie baskets on Highland Parks' pastor's door steps. In 2005, she joined the Wal-Mart East side's family, where she worked in the garden center, making sure that the flowers were watered and displayed perfectly. She made many pies, cinnamon rolls, breads, for all her WM family to share. By this time she had started quilting and making crafts. Those who received one or more of her quilts knew that they were made with lots of love. Her reward was to bring a smile to someone's face. Miriam leaves behind her husband, Rudy, daughter, Connie Relka of Casper, sister, Lori Hinton of Glenrock, and her buddy Peanut. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from across the country, as she was loved by all that met her. On Friday, April 12th, 2019, she went home to be with Jesus Christ, and reunite with her parents, Henry and Anna, brothers, Leland Henry Jr. and Edwin. She was not afraid to go, because she knew her life with Christ had come, so don't grieve my loved ones, for I will always be with you in spirit and waiting for you on the other side. Services will be held at First Church of the Nazarene in Casper, WY on May 21, 2019 at 11 am with burial in Wheatland beside her family.
