Mildred Lawson

May 19, 1930 — October 8, 2013

Mildred Lawson died peacefully on October 8, 2013 at the Wyoming Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 19, 1930. Mildred left New York, the year the Dodgers left, to live in Lander, Wyoming with her sister, Nancy and brother-in-law. While there, Mildred met Phil Lawson doing community theatre in 1959. They were married two years later and they had three daughters together. Mildred was a professional vocalist for 35 years. She directed choirs wherever she lived. Mildred and a friend were instrumental in starting the Casper Civic Chorale and with the help of Master Conductor Wayne McIntire, they were able to make it happen. People in Casper continue to enjoy the voices of the chorale even today. She was a very proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 50 years. Mildred is survived by her husband of 52 years, Phil Lawson and two daughters, Charlotte Benardis and husband Dave, and their two children, Violet and Matt of Casper; Claudine Seger and her husband, David, and their twin boys, Adam and Andrew, of Tucson, Arizona; her grandson Cody Lawson of Casper; her sister Nancy Francis and daughters Wanda Elliott and Gwynne Heard; cousin Fred Figge plus a niece and nephews of New York State and family in England. Mildred was preceded in death by her daughter Adriane Lawson and brother Bill Davis. Services will be at Grace Lutheran Church (corner of Ash and CY) on Monday October 14, 2013 at 1:30 with Pastor Brenda Frelsi presiding. Cremation has taken place.
