Michael Jenkins

July 18, 1952 — December 23, 2014

On December 23rd, 2014, Mike went to spend Christmas with Jesus. He was a husband, father, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend to many. Mike's life begins in a military hospital on July 18 1952, in Fort Hood, Texas to Donald and Betty Jenkins. Around the age of two his parents divorced and his dad remarried to Mike's mother's twin sister, Bobbie. He always liked to joke around and tell people that Keith and Mark were his brother-cousins. Mike was raised by his mother and step-father in a small town called Mason, Texas along with his baby sister, Patty. He lived there until he was a teen, when he moved in with his Dad and aunt Bobbie. From previous marriages, he had two daughters, which he talked and wondered about, and wished he knew, Samantha and Tammy. As time marched on he continued to bless the world with three more children, Christina, Michael and Matthew. His family didn't stop there, in 1991 his family increased when he married Nancy, who has three more children; Janique, Matthew and Jessica. Family meant the world to Mike, words were not his strong point so he'd teased everyone he cared about. With 17 grandchildren, no a one got a sandwich without a hole in it. His thing was poking holes in everyone's sandwich, a family tradition that will carry on. Also, there are tons of family photos re-takes due to bunny ears. Even at 62, he had to have bunny ears. Seldom a dull moment around Mike. Mike had many friends over the years, many whom had made him feel pretty special. Many of this friends he had met from a Christian chat room called "Jesus is lord". The most exciting, loving people he may have met in person and some he did not but he didn't care, he loved them all the same. When his health no longer allowed him leave the house, he depended on the internet and phone calls to keep him uplifted and not so down. Regardless that his phone calls weren't that long, he enjoyed every last one of them. Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children, Janique Koch and granddaughter Kaitlin, Matthew Simmons and grandchildren, Austin and Lillie. Christina Jenkins and grandchildren, Andrew, Jade and Brandy, Michael and Katie Jenkins and grandchildren, Allen, Shadie Dawn, Michael Jr, Charity, Mason and Christopher, Matthew Jenkins and significant other Liz Troutman, and grandchildren Erica, Sara, Matthew Jr, and Zane, and Jessica Simmons and granddaughter Emma. His brother Keith Jenkins and sister Patty Galloway. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his step mother, Charlie, an infant daughter, several aunts and uncles, cousins and his youngest brother, Mark Jenkins. Big Eagle has flown home.
