Michael Boatman

Michael Wayne Boatman passed away at Wyoming medical Center Thursday, October 20, 2016 surrounded by his family and friends. Mike was born September 27, 1952 in Casper, WY to Roy"Skip" Boatman and Merna Jepson Boatman of Casper. He attended school at Jefferson Elementary, Southridge Elementary and he graduated in 1971 from Natrona County High School. He joined the US Navy after High school as a Naval Airman, Stationed on the aircraft carrier, U.S.S.Ranger. Mike married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Nollmann 1973 and they resided at Coronado Island naval base, where their first daughter, Jenny, was born. After leaving military service, the family moved back to Casper, and their daughters, Brandy and Misty were born in Casper. He was employed as a hydrolic mechanic for pathfinder mines at Shirley Basin and Cordero Mines at Gillette. Mike loved hunting, fishing, hunting Indian artifacts and the Denver Broncos. Mike and Patricia divorced, and he was married on August 1, 2015 to Sonya Lee Thompson, in Casper. He is survived by his wife, Sonya and his daughters, Jenny (Eric) Cottrell, Brandy Boatman and Misty Mendoza; his mother, Merna Boatman of Casper and sister, Patti (Jim) Uhrig of Lemmon, South Dakota, grandchildren Celena and Neko Mendoza, Emily and Andrea Bassler, Damond Cottrell; stepson Paul (Jenn) Thompson and his children and step-daughter Cassie Perian. Mike is also survived by his nephew, Clay Boatman for whom he stepped up to provide a father figure when Clay's father, (Mike's brother) died when Clay was five years old. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy "Skip" Boatman, his brother Gary Boatman and grandparents Roy and Orphia Boatman and Elmer and Wilma Jepson. Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Bustard's Funeral Home with Pastor Butch Capshaw officiating Inurnment and military honors immediately following services at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to Casper Humane Society, 849 East E Street, Casper, WY 82601.
