Michael Benton

Michael James Benton, 30, passed away on February 6, 2018 in Greeley, Colorado. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Bustard's Funeral Home's West Chapel, 600 CY Avenue in Casper. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Bustard's with Pastor Tim Adams officiating. Michael was born on September 6, 1987 in Sioux City, Iowa to Wanita Benton and Michael Spreng. Rodney Gregg became a father figure to Michael in 1988 and remained a significant person throughout his life. He moved to Casper, Wyoming with his family in the spring of 2003. He attended both NCHS and Kelly Walsh High School, and later obtained his GED in 2006. He proceeded to gain training and education in the HVAC field to become a Journeyman HVAC Mechanic. He was employed at Sheetmetal Specialties from 2005 to 2017. He was very talented at his trade and an extremely hard worker. Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved collecting guns and was an excellent marksman. He enjoyed watching and playing football with his son, and his favorite team was the Broncos. Mike had a strong love for animals and loved his dog, Chief, who was truly man's best friend. Mike was a good friend to all who knew him and had lots of people who loved him. He loved his family very much. He enjoyed spending time with his children, who meant the world to him. He met his long time girlfriend, Emily Laura Hayes (Benton) in the summer of 2003. They married on July 14th, 2016 in Casper, Wyoming. Michael was survived by his wife, Emily; two children, Mathew and Elizabeth; niece, Natalie; two sisters, Jazmine Gregg and Jozie Sterling; mother, Wanita Benton; father, Michael Spreng; grandfather, Chuck Houck; and grandmother Kay Wendte. Along with many extended family members on his mother's and father's sides. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dee Benton, and his identical twin brother, Christopher Charles Benton, who was his life long best friend and one of the most important people who was ever in his life.
