Melvin "Mel" Neal Shaw, of Casper, WY, died July 16, 2016 in the comfort of his home. Melvin was born to Burr C. and Margaret N. Shaw on December 19, 1934 in Casper. In Mel's youth, he took great pleasure raising, breeding and showing pigeons in 4-H and the National Pigeon Association. He always had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, cats and birds. He graduated from NCHS in 1952. He joined the Army in 1953 and spent much of his enlistment in Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1957. Mel was a hard worker all his life. He became a journeyman electrician and retired after 27 years. Mel fulfilled his dream of being a farmer and rancher after retirement. He enjoyed cultivating the land and watching things grow. Mel loved to fish in the Pacific Ocean and Wyoming lakes with his loved ones. He enjoyed teaching his son and grandchildren to hunt and farm. Mel was a Master Mason of the Casper Masonic Lodge #15. He was also a member of the IBEW Local #322. He was survived by his daughter Tonya McCall; his son Todd Shaw and daughter-in-law Alethea Shaw; his daughter, Terrie Shaw, all of Casper. He had seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mel was preceded in death by his father Burr C. Clark, his mother, Margaret N. Shaw and his brother Bernard Shaw. Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Bustard's Funeral Home.
