Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ellen Putnam, 88, will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 3, 2010 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church by Father Kevin Koch. Rite of Committal will be conducted at Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery. Mrs. Putnam died peacefully on April 28, 2010 at Central Wyoming Hospice. She was born on January 15, 1922 in Casper, the daughter of Bernard L. and Albertine (Leduc) Barry. Mrs. Putnam graduated from St. Anthony's Catholic School in 1936 and Natrona County High School in 1940. Upon graduating from high school, Mrs. Putnam worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator, until her retirement in 1982. On November 6, 1947 she married Jacob M. Putnam. She is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Lamont, grandsons, James Putnam, Scott Putnam and Steve Putnam, all of Casper, a grandson, Joe Lamont of Denver, Colorado as well as 10 great grandchildren. She was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers, working on many projects and committees, as well as an active member of St. Anthony's Church. Mrs. Putnam lived a quiet, humble life and shared her love, friendship and high spirit with many. She will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Jacob M. Putnam, her son Jacob Michael Putnam and her brother Bernard Barry. Memorials may be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice or St. Anthony's Tri-Parish school in memory of Mary Putnam.
