Mary Meinzer

October 9, 1927 — December 2, 2017

Mary Geraldine Meinzer, 90, died at Life Care of Casper, December 2nd after having been fortified by the Sacraments of the Catholic Church where she had been a resident for the last 3 ½ years. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Monday, December 11 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, WY at 1:00 p.m. Mary was born October 9, 1927 in Orin, Wyoming to Thomas Orva & Rose Agnes (Roberts) Story. She attended school in Douglas, Wyoming where she met her future husband, Kenneth L. Meinzer. They were married in Douglas on September 24, 1947. She and her husband moved to Casper in 1948 where she raised two sons while working as a secretary for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. Later, she worked as a secretary for ASCS Dept. of Agriculture until her retirement. Mary enjoyed keeping herself busy during her leisure time by playing piano and by participating in the Catholic Senior Center Ladies Dance Group. She enjoyed traveling whenever possible and was able to visit Antigua and Hawaii. One of her biggest joys was being able to spend time with her grandchildren. Mary made friends easily and always managed to put a smile on everyone near her. During the last 3 1/2 years living at Life Care of Casper, she was cared for by an amazing staff who loved her like she was family. Mary passed away peacefully surrounded by family and her loving friends at Life Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose & Thomas Story; husband, Kenneth Meinzer; sisters, Rosemarie (Art) Pearson and Betty (Ralph) Snyder; and brother, Jim Story. She is survived by her children, Ken Meinzer, Gary (Kathie) Meinzer; and Jim's wife, Irene Story. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Shelby, Kristian, Ryan, Nicolas, Karrie Savala, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Life Care for their kindness and support. She loved you all so much! Viewing will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home, Sunday, December 10 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to Meals on Wheels, American Diabetes Association of Wyoming, St. Joseph's Society (priests' retirement fund of Cheyenne Diocese), or a charity of the donor's choice.
