Mary McRann

December 31, 1934 — March 1, 2016

Mary Lou McRann passed away late Tuesday night, March 1st, 2016 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Casper, WY, from her second battle of cancer. Mary Lou was born to George and Rose (Bosch) Ribble in Worland, Wyoming on December 31, 1934. She was one of eleven children. She married Lawrence McRann on July 2nd, 1960 in Worland, WY. They settled in Hulett, Wyoming as owners and operators of the town grocery store. When her husband passed away in 1970, she continued to operate the store and manage four ambitious children. Mary Lou sold the store, and briefly moved to Glasgow, MT Air Force Base and learned secretarial skills. She returned to Hulett and worked a few various jobs before she took over the town clerk position with the Town of Hulett for about 30 years. Additionally, she also worked as a janitor for the Devils Tower National Park Service for 20 years, which she enjoyed. Mary Lou loved working at Devils Tower and everything about it. She even climbed it one year! She had a brief taste of stardom as an extra in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" in which she drove a car up a hill. Upon retiring, she moved to Arizona for a few years to live with her granddaughter, Kelci. She later returned to Hulett, and then moved to Glenrock and then Casper, where she passed away. She loved playing golf and cards with her friends, and spoiling the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Lou leaves her four ambitious and obnoxious children: Mark (Julia) McRann of Glenrock, WY, Lori (Randy) Harvey of Hulett, WY, Dan (Carol) McRann of Wickenburg, AZ and Steven McRann of Sheridan, WY. Five grandchildren to include Brandon McRann of Ranchester, Wyoming, Dustin McRann of Casper, WY, Kelci Maclachlan (Tehachapi, California), Kasia Harvey, Billings, Montana, and Kailey McRann (Gillette, Wyoming). She also had several step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary Lou has five surviving siblings Joan Propp (Worland, Wyoming), Florence Kitchel (Lyman, Wyoming), George (Judy) Ribble (Powell, Wyoming), Frank Ribble (Lubbock, Texas), Jessie Saunders (Billing, Montana). Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rose Ribble, her husband, Lawrence, two brothers, Clinton and Richard, and three sisters, Laura, Lucile, and Pearl. Services will be held at Hulett Civic Center, Main Street, Hulett, Wyoming on March 7th, 2016, 10:00 a.m. with luncheon provided by Buttons and Bows and the American Legion Post 80 following the service. Burial Service will be held at the Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, SD at 2:00.
